What's happening to my beloved country's English?!

I was reading the newspaper today, and I came across this:

Excuse me? How do you spell NOODLE? Noddle? Ok, I can accept that this is a typing error, but what's the spell checker doing? He/she ain't doing the job right, is it not?

Anyway, this isn't the first time newspaper published news with errors. But then again, this might be serious considering that a young kid might just see that news (headline ok??) and start spelling wrongly! Yeah, I think too much, blame it on boredom then.

Does anyone watch 8tv's So you think you can dance? Well, one of the contestant is my mum's friend's son. Yeah yeah, complicated relationship, but it doesn't matter. What matter is, he said that the producers of the show actually manipulates the outcome of the results. The judges' decision to put whom into the bottom four (or six now I am not too sure) is being determined by the producers. Guess what happens next? Yes, racist results. Who's racist you say? Well, watch the show for just one night, who gets into the bottom placing even though they outclassed the others in dancing will then determine your answer.

Oh, the emcee for that show, some malay lady, is extremely bad. The show's title is in English, therefore I don't think anyone can have the perception that this show will be entirely conducted in English. Well, you are WRONG! The judges speak malay, and if they speak English, they struggle for the suitable words. As for the emcee, half the time (or more!) she will be speaking in malay, the other half of the time (or less, definitely) she will be speaking horrible English. She can't even pronounce the words correctly, let alone the title of the show! Excuse me? Who will be interested in watching the show if the emcee can't even pronounce the title of the show accurately?! Can't they use other people who can speak perfect English as the emcee? Or these people are too highly paid because of their language proficiency? My guess is yes, they demand more wages. Prove me wrong, anyone?

Ladybug and disgrace

My mum got me this:

Never mind the maths as its background. I am supposed to start studying for my first professional paper, but I have yet to start. =p

Don't you think its cute? Lolz. Little blue ladybug. It's for me to hang on my phone, as a phone accessory. Well, it comes along with a loop so that I can hang other stuffs, acting as a key chain. How nice. =)

Well, besides its cuteness, it can come and haunt you too!

Boo! I am the ladybug ghost. Scared? =p

Remember the Man Utd tour which clash with the stupid AFC cup which I have posted here before? No? Let me refresh your memory. Disrespectful?

Well, after all the pointless arguments, involving even our Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi, Man Utd have finally decided to, damn, cancel their tour to Malaysia. Goddamn it! Mark my words, the AFC cup will have far lesser people watching it. Either it's protesting against it for not allowing Man Utd to play here or for no interest in the poor standard of football being played as compared to European's League, people here will still boycott the AFC cup.

Promoting Visit Malaysia Year 2007? What a disgrace.

50th post: The Moon

Wow! I have hit my 50th post here! Lolz.

I just happened to read something about the moon. You know the phrase 'once in a blue moon'? Well, there is actually a real blue moon!

Check that out. It's something to do with two full moons in a month, therefore the second full moon is called blue moon. It's not something impossible, just that it's rare. And there are other facts about blue moon too! As in why the moon appears to be blue, how the phrase 'once in a blue moon' originated. I find it rather interesting.

After reading that article, I went on to click on the top 10 cool moon facts. To save trouble, let me list out the 10 facts here:

10. The moon was created when a rock the size of Mars slammed onto Earth. Ouch!

9. We always see the same face of the moon. Don't get what I meant? I mean, after so many thousand years, human have only seen the same side of the moon. The timing of the moon's rotation and Earth's rotation only allows us to see the very same side of the moon. Wonderful!

8. More than 400 trees were from the moon. They claim that some scientist carried some 400 seeds and were protecting those seeds. After that it was germinated and then someone planted all those seeds, therefore we got moon trees. Lolz

7. The moon has been slammed with thousands of asteroids. A punching bag!

6. Earth has another moon, a sister moon. Some scientist claims that Cruithne is another moon, and it takes 770 years to complete its horse shoe shaped orbit. I don't get to see it, do I?

5. The moon is not a sphere, it's an egg shaped... erh... thing?

4. There are moon quakes. And on some occasion there is gas coming out of the cracked surface.

3. The moon is a planet, as some scientist claim so. No more longer a planet, since Pluto has been demoted, am I right?

2. The tides are being controlled by the moon. When the Sun, moon and Earth are on the same line, spring tides (higher than normal tides) occurs. Because the moon's orbit is not a perfect circle, the moon is closer to Earth at some point. When this occurs, it's call perigee. The srping tides during this time is exceptionally high, and being called none other than the perigean spring tide. One more thing, all this pulling and tugging caused Earth to slow down 1.5 miliseconds every century. Gosh! Who's so free to count every second in a 100 years?! =p

1. Moon is a thief! Haha... The moon steals Earth's rotational energy to propel itself 3.8 centimeters higher in its orbit. Don't get the idea? Well, when the moon was formed, it was about 14000 miles from Earth; now, it's 280000 miles from Earth! Wow! Moon is a very very old grandpa, am I not right? 70000 years old grandpa! =p

Gosh, those are wonderful facts of moon, right? Well, the moon is more mysterious than you think it is. I got to know about this through my friend who was doing a thesis about the moon for ENL 102. Scientist still debate whether the moon is natural or it's being placed by some other intelligent beings from somewhere else, but it doesn't really matters to me as it still hang up in the sky. Wouldn't it be odd to see a sky without moon on the fifthteen day of the chinese lunar calendar (sap mmm)? Without the moon, we won't have the mooncake festival, don't you think so? Therefore, let us all bask in the moon's glory. =)

Happy Birthday Dear Daddy!!

It's my dad's birthday today!! *Happy birthday dad!* =p

We went to 1 Utama today, proceeded to The Curve and then Ikano. Lolz.

Watched Pirates of the Caribbean 3 in 1 Utama today. Guess what? We actually got to the cinema at 10am, and there's quite a long queue already. And the best part, all shows for Pirates are left with the first row seat, all shows till midnight!! Ticket sales are made 7 days in advance!! OMG! No choice left, have I? We took the 10.45am show, and got our arses to the first row of the cinema. It was tiring to look up all the time, but I guess the show took off the tiredness.

About the show, I guess you have to watch Pirates 1 and 2, or at least know what happened in the prequels. Me and my parents missed Pirates 2, but my brother filled me in on Pirates 2. As a result, my parents were a little lost in the show. I couldn't help but to like Captain Jack Sparrow, and I don't think there will be anyone else who can play that character other than the versatile Johnny Depp. He's so smart, full of humor, best of all, always at the right place right time! Lolz. I am not too sure about this fact of the show though: Does all pirates always betray each other? It really makes me wonder. Anyway, this show is very nice even though the story line could be a little better. I would give it 3 1/2 stars out of 5. =)

We had lunch after the show. My dad disallow us to pay for lunch even though it's his birthday. Lolz. I had Lamb Chop. I wouldn't say it's the best Lamb Chop I have taken, but it's not too bad either, especially if you love the meat slightly more on the fatty side. It was very filling though, making me extremely lazy to walk about after lunch!

I went looking around for ear stud. But, ear studs are so similiar nowadays. I am already having one diamond ear stud, and the others practically looks the same, except for the shape. I really want a unique ear stud, or maybe something that is not so common. I saw this particular one who had all four flowers of a deck of cards on it with a black background. Unique, I thought. Too bad, that's for girls, and it's way too big to be on my ear. =(

We head over to The Curve after that. Guess what? This is my first time going to The Curve after its been opened for that long period of time. Kampung boy? lolz... Quite often I visit 1 Utama rather than The Curve which is just nearby, therefore I find it rather interesting. I am not sure if it's because of the change of environment or not, but I seem to notice more pretty babes in The Curve than in 1 Utama. Not that I say people who visit 1 Utama are not as pretty as people who visit The Curve, just that maybe it suits my taste better. =p Anyway, there was this particular babe who caught my eye in The Curve. If I am not mistaken, she might have appeared in some advertisement poster or something. I may be wrong though, but I am sure most guys (or people!!) will agree with me that she's really pretty. ^^

They had a remote control car racing in The Curve. We happened to be at the right place right time, and we managed to watch the race. It was quite an interesting event I would say, especially with all the cars flipping over or crashing into in other or the barriers. There was this particular green car whose control was simply amazing. It practically outclassed all the other cars! Wonderful. =)

After walking so much today, my feet starts to ache. =( Let's hope a well deserved sleep will cure it all. =p Oh!! One more thing, it would be fun to go back to The Curve again, as I have not really explore it. Any takers willing to be my victim? =p Adioz...

Shorts!

After walking around the streets, I actually found out that shorts are becoming more fashionable these days. I am not sure whether it's because of the media saying shorts are more fashionable, or whether it's because females sub-consciously purchase and wear on shorts when they are out. Or maybe it's a bit of both! =p

Well, these shorts are, indeed, very pretty. Gone are the days where almost everyone is wearing bell bottom long pants; gone are the days where almost everyone is wearing long skirt. Now, short pants rulez! Don't believe me? Go on, count how many females are wearing shorts in the streets. Heck, even guys wear shorts! Lolz

It's nice to see people wear shorts, as long as they have nice legs! Some people whose legs are so, erm, big, still show their fatty legs! OMG!! That's so so ugly ok? Not that I want to offend anyone, just that those people should be more concerned about themselves. Males generally prefer slim than fat, don't you think? OK, I do know some people can't help it to be over weight, but at least put on something which suits her better, don't you think that will be better? =)

But then again, those people are just a minority here in Malaysia (so far!!). Let's hope this continues. Shorts are IN, people!! Go on and put on a pair of shorts and flaunt your beautiful legs. =) And guys, see no touch, except she's your girlfriend! Hehee...

ps. I pity Ryan Seacrest who got a mouthful of unwanted stain plus a sore body after that 'mauling' on American Idol Finale. =( Poor thing. Lolz

5 inches of hair and two pretty girls

I am bored. Yes, I am so very bored. I even measured my hair!! Yes, I am THAT bored. I have hair almost 5 inches long!! Should be my fringe, which is the longest I have ever had yet. Ok ok, I didn't put the ruler to my forehead, I measured the hair fallen off my head. DUH!!

I went to KL to collect my visa from US Embassy this afternoon. I used the public transport. I must say, I am quite impressed. Not too much for the KTM, because people using KTM does not wait for passengers coming out of the train before boarding the train. But the Putra LRT did impress me, very much. People were lining up even before the LRT arrive. No more the usual cramming and cutting queues during boarding the LRT, just follow the line, first come first serve. Wonderful, ain't it? If only every person who uses the public transport are as civic minded as that. Still, I think this is a good start in implementing civic mindedness in the society.

On my way out of the LRT station, I happen to turn back while going up the escalator. I saw this beautiful lady, or girl. She's a blonde, not that I prefer them over other races. Anyway, she was clad in a mini jeans skirt and an off the shoulder white blouse. She's so tall. Long legs couple off with mine skirt is just a perfect match, isn't it? I was hoping she will take the same route with me, but my luck ran out; she went the opposite way. Lolz

I was queuing up to get my visa, and the rain started to come down. Unlucky as I was, I got in the line between two elderly lady. Both of them stared at me as if only they can get a US visa. Excuse me? It's rude to stare, isn't it? By the way, can't a student like me get to study in US? You do think that only old people can get into the States for holiday, don't you? Well, you are extremely wrong!! Save your stare and walk off!! You two are making me smell like joint medication oil!! =.='''

I walked in the rain all the way from the embassy to the LRT station. About 7 to 10 minutes under constant pelting by 'sky juice'. It's too heavy to say it's drizzling, yet it's too mild to say it's raining. Get what I meant? Never mind, not important. It's been a while since I walked in the rain for this long, I think. It was quite nice until I get to the station, with freezing air conditioners blasting air on me, making me think I am in a sub zero temperature fridge. My hair was dripping; my shirt was drenched. I was left to dry myself in such freezing conditions. Sigh...

Consolation for that, well, yeah, you guessed it right. Girls again. Shoot!! I am such a pervert, am I not? But, I think it's normal, am I not right? Anyway, she was dressed in a black spaghetti strap blouse with black mini skirt. She was on the other side of the LRT, quite far from where I stand. I think she noticed that I was checking her out, but then our eye contact were distrupted by a well built guy clad in blue Nike singlet. I can't say excuse me to him, can I? Anyway, I got myself a seat and end up staring out into the pitch black darkness of this partially subterranean route of the LRT.

Got home and couldn't go out for basketball due to the rain. I ended up sleeping and sleeping AND sleeping. Well, nothing much to do now. Just that I am feeling so hyped up, probably due to the afternoon nap. That's all folks, tata!!

Boredom

I am taking only one subject this semester. Therefore, five days a week I will be at home, allowing cobwebs to accumulate around me. My classes are only on Mondays and Thursdays, and that is two hours each day only!

Out of boredom, I decided to define boredom in everyday's term, or rather MY everyday's term.

  1. Boredom is when you sit in front of the computer staring at the wallpaper.
  2. Boredom is when you walk about every inch of the house the whole day.
  3. Boredom is when you ask people out and the answers you get is "I've got class."
  4. Boredom is when you repeatedly glance through yesterday's newspaper even though you've read it.
  5. Boredom is when you play computer games and won so many times till a family of four's fingers and toes can't count.
  6. Boredom is when you come online to MSN and find yourself staring at the contact list, not chatting with anyone.
  7. Boredom is when you listen to your MP3 playlist so many times till you know what's the next song before you even finish the current song.
  8. Boredom is when you can write out all the lyrics of the songs in your playlist, word for word.
  9. Boredom is when you feel sleepy even though you have slept for 10 hours straight.
  10. Boredom is when you play basketball so much till walking up the stairs make your lungs ache.
  11. Boredom is when you go to college and see all the same faces you've seen for 2 years. No offence to anyone, just that I want to see some new faces, or need a change of environment.
  12. Boredom is when you stare at the blank ceiling till you can imagine seeing the molecules of it.
  13. Boredom is when you watch Astro/Cable TV till the programs repeat itself.
  14. Boredom is when you channel surf till the remote control's batteries die.
  15. Boredom is when you start the daily routine of eat, sleep, dream.
  16. Boredom is when you talk so much till there's no topic to talk about.
  17. Boredom is when you start tidying up your study table even though you've just done it an hour ago.

Sigh... I need an interesting novel; I need a part-time job; I need to keep myself occupied before I go crazy due to boredom!! Any suggestion?? Help!!!
