Racing and Semester

You know, a semester is similiar to a sprint race. First of all, you would have to spend money on tuition fees, as would you spend money to purchase a sports car. But then you wouldn't want to race on a stock car, unless you are in a NASCAR racing. And so you spend time and effort, and even money, to improve the condition of your car. Well, you do need to spend time and effort, and some times money, in studies, don't you?

Next, the start of the race comes. You start off slowly, cruising along the designated race track with ease. Just as you would for the start of a semester. Everything is just so relaxed and calm, and therefore you take it easily and slowly get things done. Before you know it, you reached the first checkpoint in the race, and you are trailing behind the car that always floor the pedal. Yeap, you guessed it, the first test came and went, and your marks are behind those who study 24/7, or maybe not. It's just that you take it to lightly and tend to ease off the effort, therefore trailing behind.

You figured out that amends can be done, and start to floor the pedal more. Slowly but surely, you think, you are catching up with the leader. Quizzes here and there helped you gain momentum in studies, allowing you to overtake those few slightly ahead of you. You passed them with more effort, some passed with ease, some just squeezing through by a few decimal points.

The second checkpoint looms, and this time you floor the throttle. With the highest gear, you thought you would pass the checkpoint with ease and lead the race. To your horror and dismay, you are not even in the podium positions!! You thought you did the best for this second test, who knows the others did even better!! Quickly, you thought up of repairs and improvements for your car. Luckily for you there is a pit stop where you can review and apply what you have learnt so far. This pit stop proved valuable in understanding where the mistakes are, and you are all geared up to face the final challenge after this assignment.

The team radio told you that the chequered flag is another 8km more, and you start to ease off the throttle to save little fuel. Before you know it, the finals is within sight in just another corner! Seeing that you are still trailing behind, even though it might be a lot or might be a little, you get on to the highest gear, that newfound gear through that assignment, and speed all the way with the most effort you have ever put in throughout the whole race. In just a flash, you saw the chequered flag waving at the corner of your eye, you finished the race.

It's a photo finish, and you will have to wait for the confirmation of the results. You thought you did well after comparing with the others, and only the result will determine if you did well enough or not. Anyhow, you knew it was your best effort, or so it may not be. But then again, there goes the race and what has been done can't be done again. Whatever the outcome, you have to receive it with or without happiness and proudness.

Mr Bean

I went to Sunway Pyramid to watch Mr. Bean's Holiday today, together with Hooi Ching, Esther, David, Jian Wei, and Beng Hui. We had lunch, or rather they had lunch, in KFC before proceeding to watch Mr. Bean. OMG!! Sunway Pyramid is undergoing massive construction!! Even the area under the pyramid was filled up with a web of scafoldings!! The cinema's entrance also shifted to the side and became sort of out of place! I wonder what will happen when the area is filled with peak time crowd. =p Anyway, we walked through a short little 'dark alley' to reach the cinema.

The show:
Well, not that bad if you are a fan of Mr. Bean. All his usual antics are in the show and as usual, he saves the day in the end. Exactly like the recent interview on Rowan Atkinson published in The Star newspaper recently, Mr. Bean is the kind of person who is very self-centered and selfish. I can't figure out why I love Mr. Bean so much when I was young but thanks god I didn't follow his character!! Anyway, the show isn't too bad considering that it actually had some really really stupid acts of Mr. Bean himself (showing of his dumbness!! LOL). I would say it's much much better than Primeval and would give it 3 stars out of 5. =)

That's pretty much all about Mr. Bean, unless you want me to give out spoilers! Hehe... Adioz.

Updates

Nothing much to blog about lately, because I am a boring person. Lolz. I went to Ipoh last weekend to visit my relatives before I leave to the States. Yeah, I know it's a long way more but I might not have time to go back to Ipoh after this due to various reasons. =( Anyway, I watched 'Primeval' in Ipoh. It was kind of boring to me, and I would give 1 1/2 stars over 5 stars for the show. My cousin sister went and did her hair using the RM300 she got from NS. She made the kind of hairstyle you would normally see in Hong Kong trend, and it cost RM215 with 6 hours of sitting!! =\ Hell!! For that kind of price, I think she could get something waaaay better in A Cut Above. Maybe it's just that I do not know how to appreciate it, but I think the money can be put into better use. =p Anyway, what's done is done and it's not my hair or my girlfriend's hair, so it doesn't really matter.

All the grandchildren with their grandparents. The cute little girl in green is Kah Kei, who loves to play with me, and the girl behind me is Kit Ying, who had her hair done the next day of this picture being taken. Lolz.

I attended my second DYP today, or rather this afternoon. For the first time the organizers held it in the afternoon, and it's a Monday afternoon! Lolz. My partner is Kohei Yamao. Yeah, some Japanese guy I think. He's quite good. We won the first round, lost the second to Mikey (Asia 1st or 2nd in foosball rankings!! =\), won the third match in the losers' bracket, in the end lost the fourth match. I was kinda nervous and lack of experience really do matter. I was the main cause of losing the match, but my partner also have the habit of playing a little fancy at times, succumbing to crowd pressure. All in all, it was quite an eventful outing, at least I get to block Mikey's shot!! Not once, not twice, not thrice, but FOUR times!! Lolz.

I like that shoe. =p The red one is mine and the other one is U-Xinn's. It's either you like it or hate it, and I like it. XD

That's about all to a tiring and long day. Oh! I finally get to use my internet connection, even though it's temporary. My telephone cable got struck by lightning or some sort, causing me to be unable to online since Sunday night. That's why I only get to post on the Ipoh trip today. Lolz. Anyway, ciaoz!

1 Utama

Long, natural straight black hair; medium eye brow; soft, beautiful eyes; paired with a well contoured nose and a full lips. Fair and smooth complexion, topped off with a sweet smile. As tall as me with a 2 1/2 inches black heels, nice hour-glass-shaped body and a pair of lanky legs. Clad in a dark blue T-shirt and blue/black jeans, she caught my attention when I was having lunch in a restaurant named Jack's Place in 1 Utama today. =p She was having lunch with her sister and mother just a few tables away from me. I was patiently waiting for my food as she walked in. I didn't get to study her closely because she was blocked from my view by her mother's back, but it is enough for that image to get stuck in my head and end up here. Too bad I didn't take a picture of her as that would be intruding her privacy. Besides, I am with my family. Lolz.

Anyway, the food was nice. I had spaghetti, Jack's Seafood spaghetti. It was full of prawns, squid and fish meat. Together with loads of capsicum, onion and another vegetable which I forgotten the name, it made a satisfying meal. To top it off, it's quite cheap consider the amount of ingredients in it. =p
The reason I went to 1 Utama is this:

Hell yeah!! It's white! It's my headphones for my N70 phone. The previous one was faulty therefore I send it in to exchange for a new one, trying luck. And I got it, brand new! White some more! It looks so cool. Notice the gray ear buds? It just matches the color perfectly. I am so happy to get this! Lolz. =p Had it stuck in my ears since getting it till I came home from 1 Utama at 3pm. =D

Ok, that's about all. Adioz...

ps. - Malaysia won the All England Badminton Men's Doubles! Congratulations! Chelsea draw as well...

Funny

Here's a little video clip to tickle your funny bone. Mind you, it may be racist! But all in the good nature of making a joke. Before you watch the video, there are some terms you may need to know.

Halal - means strictly no pork being served, may it be pork or to pork oil whatsoever.
si beh 'gao xiao' - literally means very funny in a mixture of hokkien and mandarin
zao - run
ter bak - pork in hokkien

Well, I think that's about all the important terms you need to know for this video. To get the best effect out of this video, it's best you understand mandarin and hokkien. Enjoy!

(Oh My) Malaysia

My my! What is wrong with the Malaysian government? First you set a limit for the number of subject in the public examinations for high school (SPM), and then you break it; next you came up with the National Service (NS), and many problems arise with it; then along came the ban on firecrackers, but do you know what is the problem?? Let me tell you.

The outrageous number of 1A, or distinction, a person can get for SPM led to the government to limit the number of subjects a student can take. Well, that is a good move, as these students with an extreme number of 1A does not actually always reflects excellent studies. Think about this, what does it reflect when someone actually take about 5 subjects regarding to religion? The result for SPM is coming out soon, and there is a newspaper report stating that someone is capable, and most likely, to score 19 1A's for it. In that 19 subjects, 5 are religion studies. Does that make sense to you? Well, it does not make sense to me! Besides that, didn't the Ministry of Education set the limit that a student is not allowed to take that many subjects? Don't you think you are going against your own policy? This is what a chinese proverb states, 自相矛盾. Direct translation, self mutual spear shield. In other words, to be self-contradictory. Go check this proverb out at http://www.bingchen.com/content/view/62/66/.

The next issue, National Service (NS). It is a good move for the government to install the NS program in order to promote patriotism. But, with all the problems for it, don't you know how to solve it? For example, this year's NS program, they screw up the transportation. The buses supposed to ferry the students to the camp were in a mess, causing havoc. As a result, they don't provide any more transport for the students. This caused these students to face transportation trouble. If your family is in Peninsular Malaysia and your camp is in Sarawak, you need to fork out your own money for the transportation??! That's unfair! Another issue regarding to NS, too many deaths!! I do not know about other countries, but generally in my mind NS should not cause any deaths! I think the government should either abort the program, or make it applicable to males only. It's not that I am prejudice against females, but I think they should not be forced to join this program. They can volunteer to join, but must be at will and not by the random selection of the government. (Hey, I like females too ok? Lolz) Another thing they must look into is, the discipline of the program. First the head of the camp or the instructors are perverted or indiscipline (some, not all). Then there are some students, especially girls, who tend to flirt with these instructors, causing unwanted troubles such as rape cases or molestation. The punishment against such acts? Well, it is not made clear to the public but I can't help guessing that it is very light punishment. Justice what?

Lastly, the issue of fire crackers. Chinese New Year was about two weeks ago, and just this previous Sunday was the 15th of the lunar calendar, signifying the last day of Chinese New Year. But, unfortunately enough, this year's CNY was exceptionally quiet. The government came up with the ban on fire crackers. Heck, it is only the chinese, or rather only during CNY, that fire crackers come together with the celebrations. Stick to the origin, does Hari Raya celebrations come with fire crackers? Or does Deepavali celebrates together with fire crackers? They have NO reason to ban fire crackers. The reason why CNY is celebrated with fire crackers is because they want so scare of the monster that comes during CNY. Yes, I do agree that that is a traditional view point, but does that signify a point to ban the playing of fire crackers? Besides that, most chinese BUY fire crackers, and not make it themselves. C'mon, tell me who are those who get injured with self-made fire crackers? With this unusually quiet CNY over, many articles about it surfaced, especially in newspaper columns. I seriously think that the government should allow fire crackers during CNY. It may sound unfair to other religion if fire cracker is to be allowed only during CNY, but what's the point of them playing fire crackers during their religious celebrations?

Well, I am still living in this country. Therefore you may say I am blind towards the beauty of this country. But then again, if my country has these problems, do you think I, who lived here before leaving to another country, can let go of these thoughts behind my head? I haven't experience living in another country yet, but I seriously doubt so. Serious matter like these do actually tarnish our country's name. Yet there are other issues about negative matter arising recently, most of which I do not have any right to say about it. Why? Mostly because I do not want to get involved in any insulting comments. Bribe me anyone? Sigh...

DYP Night out @ Racks Cafe

Here's a little on what happened in my life recently instead of complaints against the government. Lolz.

I had my debut in Draw Your Partner (DYP) yesterday night. Its sort of a small competition in foosball where participants draw their own partner. It's by luck who they draw, and I wasn't fortunate enough to draw a pro player. Instead, I was the better player compared with my partner! OMG! You know how bad was that?! Anyway, my first match was against Daniel and another guy which I do not know his name. My pull shot was very consistent yesterday night. We won the first round, with my pull shot killing my opponent. It was practically invincible!! THEY CAN'T BLOCK, NEITHER CAN THEY SEE!! Scary?? hehe... Second round, same case, we race to a 4-2 lead in a race to 5 game. Their turn to start the ball and the ball went through my midfield, couldn't remember whether was it a fluke pass or a nice pass. Anyway, my partner panicked. I think my opponent sensed that my partner was panicking and he just calmly put the ball in. Damn, I thought!! I started the ball, and managed to pass it through my opponent's midfield. I set it up for my pull, but I couldn't seem to control the ball and loss possesion of it. Nerves I think, since I am so close to victory. The defender managed somehow to hit the ball and bounce it off the wall for a fluke shot. Again, my defender panicked and the ball entered. -.-''' Game tied at 4-4! I got the ball to my striker, but somehow didn't managed to put the ball in. I think I was too anxious to put the ball in that my passes were in a mess as I was in between hacking and passing. In the end they scored and we were tied at a game each. The last game wasn't much of a fight. Too many fluke shots and also nice shots, but my defender is in a mess and we never did block their shots. We lost the game. It was never a turn around in the loser's bracket. Call it fluke shot as I might, but I think my defender was way too messy and let too many balls ROLL in. In the end we got ding-donged. Sigh. Therefore, the lesson is, no matter how good your striker bar is, your midfield must be strong as well, and your defender must never panic. The reason I lost should be my midfield is not up to par, and (yes, call me a sore loser you may), my defender is shaky and not consistent enough. Next DYP maybe I would do better, and I do hope I partner someone of a pro, maybe like Zayd!! I saw him teaching his partner a few tricks, how I wish I was his partner!! Maybe then we can own!! Next time... =(

Anyway, I met Oliver and had a little chat with him as he requested in the foosball forum. I shook his hand, and told him who I was. He went like,
"Hey fucker!! hahhaha... Good good, now at least I have a face to link the name with in the forum. Good good... mahai..."
-.-''' (sorry about the vulgarity, but I was just quoting him.) Nice fella, as his reputation always regard him as a friendly fooser. Met him again on the way out of the complex to my car.
"Ooi!! So fast mati ah?? Aiya... What is this man?! Hahaha... Next time lah..."
-.-''' How am I supposed to survive without a good partner lah dei?? Lolz. Anyway, nice seeing him and chatting with him. =p

Well, that's about all for my debut in DYP. I hope I'll get better and at least manage to win one or two DYP before I leave to the States! Hahaha... Big dreams... =p Ciaoz!!
